Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection at Kasuga Gorakujo, Osaka
During my vacation in Japan, my wife and I stopped by Kasuga Gorakujo a retro arcade center located in Janjan-Yokocho (Nanyo-dori Shopping Street), Osaka.
To my surprise, they had a working Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection arcade machine — the only Tekken cabinet in the entire place. Tekken arcades are becoming pretty rare in Japan these days, as many game centers have shifted to newer titles or claw machines. Some GIGO locations still have Tekken, but you’ll need to check their websites to find the right spots.
The atmosphere was a gritty mix of nostalgia and fun — filled with CRT monitors and rows of aging machines. We played a few rounds, surrounded by classics like Super Street Fighter II, CAPCOM vs SNK2, and Mario Bros. It’s a great place to stop by when you’re on your way, visiting the Tsūtenkaku in Osaka.
You can check their full game list on their official website. As of July 1, 2025, Kasuga Gorakujo’s lineup is packed with old-school fighters, shooters, and quirky Japanese titles.
It was a rare find — and a gem for me. It’s a great reminder of how arcades used to feel. The old owners are very kind and the place was fun!
I just wish we had an arcade culture like Japan’s back home.
